The first days have passed. London is really wonderful, even it is expensive over the top. This weekend I visited Canary Wharf and Greenwich with a good friend. Today I took a bus to Crystal Palace and walked through the park. They had some vintage dinosaurs and even a maze in the park. In Germany you are happy if there is a lake with a bench.
I try to upload photos at a regularly basis of my time here in London. Here is the link to my Flickr Set:

A long passage of time passed by since my last post. Some things changed, some did not change.
The nice part is that I successfully passed my pre diploma and will move for at least 1 semester to London. The Flight is already booked for the 10th of Sep. Now I only need to pack my stuff.
And only 2 months left till intermediate diploma. I am thrilled what the next months will bring. This January I applied for Erasmus in London. Hopefully it will go smoothly and I can spend a year in England at the Camberwell College. Besides the preparations for the exchange we got a lot of work to do for uni: Creating a font, building a chair (still from the last semester), designing various posters, doing presentations and drawing all kind of stuff.
Matter of fact is I totally love what I am doing and so the work does not feel so harsh. The only let-down is the constant need of focusing on a small amount of projects. So you cannot do all the stuff you want…
A huge motivator is the current weather. I never thought that I will ever like spring more than autumn. But I have to admit it feels so great smelling the fresh air and feeling the sun on your skin.

I am definitely not in the mood for Christmas now… By the way, we went to the zoo again. Was okay. Drew some fishes and corals. Maybe I upload them.

Yesterday we went to the opera and watched Verdi’s Aida. The music was quite nice but the singers performed in the first part not so well. But the second part was really good. I enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately was the opera performance not typically Verdi. There were no mass scenes and no real elephants. You saw just a white room with a couch during the whole production. But in conclusion it was a very nice evening.
Today was an ordinary day at the Uni. We drew, but nothing that I would consider showing in this blog. It is indeed not worthy.
Well, enough talk and good night.

Went to the opera and bought 6 tickets. The tickets are for the last row of seats. Hope we will see what is going to happen at the stage.

Drew this today in my sketchbook during class. Mondays we have drawing class. Our teacher follows some kind of German drawing trend, the so called “blind-drawing”. You have to draw without looking. I do not know if I like this approach or not. Sometimes it is funny and amusing. But after a while I get very very sick of it and need to draw the good old academic way or something out of my head…
Tomorrow I will face typography class. Hope it will be better then last time. The first lecture was about writing with a quill / pen. I never experienced such a thrill writing letters… It is really boring. Hopefully we will start designing our own font tomorrow. Otherwise I got a backup plan: Drawing.
Forgot to point out, that our workload increased this semester by a huge amount in comparison to the last semester. But I still enjoy studying at the HGB. Of course there are days when I wish I could study anywhere else then here…
Good Night Everybody.

Today was the exhibition from our class. We built a giant Octopus out of card boxes. That was last week. Now the thing is about 5 metres tall. Unfortunately we have to destroy it in the next days. If I had a camera I would have taken some photos. It really looks great. Maybe someone of our class took some photos. The Octopus itself has no purpose and is not connect to the works of our exhibition. But we built it with the reason to hide all of our furniture and to get some attention.
The Chameleon was drawn by me with good old pencil. I made it for the show because we set ourselves the task to create a self-portrait. We drew us all as some kind of an animal. First I thought about choosing a penguin, a walrus or griffin. They are all animals in some awkward way. I like that. But in the end and because of the fear to set a wrong impression I chose a chameleon with a lollipop. Do not know if this is really better…
